One singer, one rock guitarist and one heavy metal drummer. Not the usual combination for a country fuelled band with a love of raw sounding acoustics and bassy percussion.

Friends from school, Andrew Jones, a solo singer and self-taught guitarist, and Ben Gurney, talented songwriter and lead guitarist, formed as a duo back in 2009 at an open mic night in their home town of Brackley. Short of acts for the evening, they decided to perform together after much coercion and unleashed a cover of Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy by Big and Rich. This had the audience watching in awe as Andrew really tested his vocal limits in this foot stomping song. They followed this up by a debut of a song they had co-written called Lookin' Back.

Tight harmonies and a raw acoustic sound really impressed the owner of the pub and this led to their first paid gig just a few weeks later. Unfortunately the name "Journey" (an amalgamation of Jones and Gurney) was already taken so they tacked on Acoustic and have gigged under this guise ever since.

A number of years playing local venues and festivals had the guys searching for a fresher, harder hitting sound which saw the arrival of Andy Sammons, previously a drummer for heavy metal band 6 Bullet Chamber. He was looking for a change in direction to take his musical experience forward, "fancy playing percussion for us?" was the only call he needed. He went out and bought a Lion Cajon, much easier to transport than a full drum kit, and brought it along to the next practice. Andy now sings the third part harmony on a number of tracks and is enjoying his time in Country music, even if the double kick pedal does cry out to him occasionally from the music cupboard.

Acoustic Journey have had one hell of a year playing shows alongside some of the best UK Country artists around all over the UK. They've also spent many evenings and weekends partying with some amazing fans and followers. The guys have been in the studio recording a brand new EP (Get Back Up: Get Back On It), which you can find on iTunes, Amazon and GooglePlay and continue to build momentum with a relentless gigging schedule in an attempt to further establish themselves on the UK Country scene.">
